Aim: Overt hypothyroidism affects mostly women with an increased prevalence in individuals by age. Hypothyroidism is associated with accelerated atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases, possibly caused by the higher incidence of hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance, hypertension which all are associated to hypothyroidism.
